Drivers licences | Card printing machine is old, slow, and faulty

JOHANNESBURG - The country's only driving licence card printing machine has broken down, again.

It's been out of service since February.

The Transport Department says it's talking to the French supplier to get it fixed.

The 26-year-old machine has had 159 breakdowns in its lifetime.

Expired licences will be valid for a further three months if an application for a new one has been submitted.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla discussed the situation with eNCA.
