Expert: Madlanga inquiry lays bare accountability failures in Ekurhuleni

JOHANNESBURG - A brand reputation expert says the damage to Ekurhuleni’s senior officials is done.

Over the course of 44 days, the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry heard testimonies detailing the depth of alleged criminality and political interference in the justice system.

Two witnesses drew particular attention.

They were Ekurhuleni officials Imogen Mashazi and Julius Mkhwanazi.

They appeared unwilling to acknowledge evidence implicating them when grilled about criminality and corruption in the metro.

Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza insists those named in the Madlanga Commission must answer for their actions.

Testimony has exposed a pattern of incompetence and poor accountability across the metro.
