JOHANNESBURG - Firefighting trucks are in critical supply across many areas in South Africa.
WATCH: Discussion | Turning up the heat on fire safety awareness
Working on Fire has claimed that it handed back firetrucks to government which are not being used – but are rather sitting in depots gather dust or even being vandilised.
Working on Fire is part of government’s Expanded Public Works Programme.
It says the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment was meant to distribute the trucks.
The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Bernice Swarts discussed this with eNCA.
