JOHANNESBURG - Children’s online safety is everyone’s responsibility, said the Film and Publication Board’s (FPB) Advocate Norman Gidi.
He said the FPB is constantly monitoring online activities and issuing removal notices where necessary.
On Friday, just days after the world observed Safer Internet Day on 10 February, Gidi said their regular online safety education was especially important around the beginning of the new academic year.
“This is an exciting period where parents often share photos of their children’s first day back to school and learners also post their own experiences on social media,” he said.
Gidi urged all adults should take it upon themselves to ensure that children are safe online. This is to ensure that cyberbullying and online grooming are curbed.
