G20 momentum builds as world leaders arrive in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG - With the world’s biggest economies assembling in South Africa, the G20 Summit marks a defining moment for Africa’s voice on the international stage.

Kuseni Dlamini, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in South Africa, said this is a historic moment for South Africa to host some of the world's richest economies.

"These are countries that are major sources of foreign direct investment, major sources of tourism spend, major sources of technology and a range of other benefits that Africa and South Africa need," he said.

On the spat between South Africa and the USA, Dlamini said quiet diplomacy should take its course.

"At the 11th hour, we saw some positive overtures from Washington trying to indicate their willingness to engage with one shape or form with the G20 process," he said.
