But Wits University's Advanced Drug Delivery Programme has found a way to make treatment as easy as putting on a plaster, changing the way many treat HIV, especially for children in rural communities.

PhD student, Hannah Wellington, is in the process of developing a new tiny micro-needle patch that delivers life-saving medication painlessly and accurately.

Wellington says they are still on the research stages and that it will take a while before it reaches the market.
