Human Rights Day | State of human dignity six decades after Sharpeville

JOHANNESBURG - 64 years ago, apartheid police killed 69 people during a peaceful march against protesting pass laws.

The victims were buried at the Phelindaba cemetery.

Six decades on, and after the defeat of the apartheid regime, we commemorate Human Rights Day.

This year it's held under the theme of reflecting on the significant milestone.

March will be used to reflect on achievements in promoting respect for basic human rights and human dignity.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will lay wreaths and deliver an address at the cemetery in Sharpeville.

We get the latest from our reporters Pule Letshwiti-Jones and Aviwe Mtila.
