Human trafficking | Few prosecutions despite laws and framework

JOHANNESBURG - Various reports point to South Africa as a source, transit point and destination for trafficking in persons.

There have unfortunately not been many prosecutions.

This is despite policy and legislation in place.

In 2015, the Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons Act was adopted.

There is also a National Policy Framework on how to deal with the scourge.

We discuss this with public safety expert, Jacob Mofokeng.
