NCOP postpones vote on NHI bill to next week

JOHANNESBURG - Despite extensive public submissions and recommendations, last week The National Council of Provinces adopted the contentious NHI Bill without making any changes.

While the NCOP was scheduled to vote on the draft legislation this week, the matter has since been deferred to 6 December.
The Democratic Alliance which supports the idea that universal health care and coverage should be pursued is against the NHI Bill as it believes this is not the correct mechanism.
