No water, no peace: Bronkhorstspruit residents blockade roads

JOHANNESBURG - In Bronkhorstspruit, the water has stopped - and so has the patience.

Residents have gone three weeks with little to no running water, following planned maintenance at the local treatment plant.

City officials insist the upgrades were completed ahead of schedule, but many households are still waiting for supply to be fully restored.

Frustrated and fed up, some community members took to the R513 and blocked the road in protest.

Mayor Nasiphi Moya has promised that the new high-lift pumps will make a difference — but for residents, the only thing flowing at the moment is frustration.
