BHISHO - The air in Eastern Cape is filled with the sounds of the South African Police Service band as 1918 newly trained constables have been deployed.
The cahoot being welcomed in a passing parade currently being held at in Bhisho ave been deployed to bolster crime-fighting efforts, especially at the 30 stations with the highest crime rates.
The event is taking place amid ongoing concerns over the crime situation in the province.

At least 849 graduates will be officiated in Eastern Cape.
Speaking to eNCA Eastern Cape police spokesperson Major General Nonkululeko Phokane says distribution of the newly recruited constables will be driven by such crime patterns but a large number of them will be positioned in police stations.
This she says will enhance police visibility but also improve investigation environment.
