JOHANNESBURG - Jayden-Lee Meek (11) allegedly told school teachers he was being abused.
His mother has appeared in court for his murder.
So clearly, not enough is being done to protect vulnerable children.
Abubakr Hattas, CEO of Joburg Child Welfare, said when a child cries for help and a teacher doesn't report it, it's child neglect.
"That child relies on that teacher to be in a place of safety," he said.
Save the Children SA CEO, Gugu Xaba, said teachers are trained to take care of children.
"We should hold them accountable," she said.
