Probe into the killing of Abahlali Basemjondolo members underway

DURBAN - An investigation is underway into the assassination of members of the shack dwellers movement, Abahlali BaseMjondolo. 

This is in response to a Human Rights Commission request made to President Cyril Ramaphosa. 

A police task team was formed as part of an intervention in what many believe to be persistent human rights violations experienced by the organisation and its members.

Over the past 14 years, 24 Abahlali BaseMjondolo members or supporters have been killed. 

The movement's president Sbu Zikode had a discussion with the eNCA.
