DURBAN - Part of South Africa’s marriage law could soon be overhauled, with the General Laws Amendment Bill set to be tabled in Parliament.

One proposed change would empower the courts to redistribute assets in the event of a divorce or death, even overriding certain terms of a marriage contract.
The aim is to protect spouses who might otherwise be left with nothing.
