The University of Stellenbosch's Social Justice Chair is giving young people a lesson in protesting. Professor Thuli Madonsela took to Twitter to address the youth ahead of planned protests led by the EFF. She reminded protesters they have no right to force shutdowns or protests on others. #DStv403

 

JOHANNESBURG - Stellenbosch University's Social Justice Chair Professor Thuli Madonsela is urging youth partaking in Monday's national shutdown to be cautious of the law and not sell their future.

Madonsela says youth's right to demonstrate shouldn't equate to violence.

At the same time, 87 protesters have been arrested in the past 15 hours for public-violence-related offences.

They are said to have been participating in the National Shutdown.

The arrests have been made by the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure.
