Public Service Amendment Bill | NCOP to hold final mandate vote

JOHANNESBURG - The National Council of Provinces will hold the final mandate vote, paving the way for voting on the Public Service Amendment Bill.

If passed, the bill will give directors-general and heads of departments the power to appoint staff and make operational decisions.

This will remove the power from a political head, as the Act currently allows.

Dr Ivor Chipkin, Co-Founder and Director of the New South Institute, unpacks the Bill and its significance.
