While a Grade 10 pupil has been suspended, with a disciplinary hearing already scheduled.
The protesting students believe more should be done to address the issue of school violence.
Reacting to the incident United Front for School Governing Bodies Eric Mahlangu says the bigger issue rooted in this is gangsterism and tribalism.
Gauteng Department of Education Steve Mabona says initially the disciplinary hearing was meant to be carried out on Friday but because the complainant is still in hospital it could not continue.
Mabona however affirmed that the alleged perpetrator will not be allowed back into the school.
He says a process will be facilitated to provide alternative school for the pupil to continue with their studies, Mabona said.
