MBOMBELA - Former Deputy President David Mabuza has been granted a State Funeral Category 2, which includes official state and prescribed military ceremonial honours.
President Cyril Ramaphosa, speaking at the funeral, said it was a sad moment, but also an opportunity to celebrate Mabuza’s life and legacy.
“He made a huge contribution to the development of our democracy and to preserving the unity of our movement, as well as our country,” said Ramaphosa.
He added that he would remember Mabuza as a unifier, who was deeply committed to the unity of the ANC.
Mabuza served as Deputy President from 2018 to 2023, following his tenure as ANC Deputy President and Premier of Mpumalanga.
