Rights group, Open Secrets published a four part expose uncovering incidents of torture, and possibly assassinations, allegedly carried out by members of the SANDF.

The group said the evidence they've collected implicates at least four units of the army.

It’s alleged that officials were instructed to recover stolen firearms that included 18 rifles, taken from a base just outside Pretoria.

Open Secrets spoke to an alleged torture victim who detailed the ordeal, and mentioned the name of a general who ordered his assault.

SANDF chief general Rudzani Maphawanya denied the allegations on Thursday.
