JOHANNESBURG - The rape of seven-year-old Cwecwe in the Eastern Cape has prompted government to up its game and do more to protect children.
The Education Department is calling on all school officials and teachers to be vetted against the National Sex Offenders Register before being employed.

To date, a mere 19-percent of school staff have done this.
