South Africa is short of police officers to boost the fight against crime - expert

JOHANNESBURG -  Crime Experts warn that the country's police are fighting a losing battle against crime.

There are a-hundred-and-50-thousand officers for a population of 62 million people.

That pales in comparison to the over 2-point-7-million private security officers registered in the country.

South Africa has one of the highest violent crime rates in the world.
