South Africans win the Cape Town Cycle Tour

CAPE TOWN - Following months of preparation and discipline, two South Africans have emerged victorious the 48th instalment of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Before it was the glorious 109km race it is today, it started out as a protest ride advocating for safer cycling paths in Cape Town in 1978.

The inaugural one had 500 cyclists, now almost five decades later, it draws around 30,000 riders annually. This has allowed the Cape Town Cycle Tour to successfully secured its spot as a key fixture in the global cycling calendar.

On Sunday, Lisa Bone and Ryan Gibbons won the Women and Men’s Elite races, respectively.
