The sweet sound of heritage with NANAS

JOHANNESBURG - Kegomoditswe Phiri, known as NANAS, is an award-winning artist.

She has proudly shared Setswana music and dance from Mahikeng to stages around the globe.

A member of the Bakwena tribe, she grew up surrounded by culture and community, earning her nickname NANAS, which means something sweet.

Nanas has performed in Rome and Brazil and has won SATMA and PANSALB Awards.

Throughout her career, she has focused on preserving tradition while mixing it with jazz to create a sound that is distinctly hers.

As we wrap up Heritage Month, she reflects on why it's more important than ever to embrace our cultures through song and dance.
