DAR ES SALAAM - The Annual Thabo Mbeki Africa Day Lecture takes place in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
The 15th edition is being held under the theme, 'The State of the Continent'.
It comes as a new scramble for Africa and its resources heats up.
It's also a chance to reflect on the hope of an African Renaissance that has become a dream deferred.
