WASHINGTON - Global leaders are gathering in New York City for the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
It’s essentially a global town hall - allowing the UN’s 193 members to discuss international issues.
But in recent years, questions have been mounting over the organisation’s relevance - amid rising authoritarianism, multiple wars, and a lack of representation from the Global South - including Africa.
