Venda film wins big at Cannes Film Festival

JOHANNESBURG - A Limpopo film has won the Best African Film at the Cannes Film Festival.

'Lubunyu, a Village Under Terror' tells of the harsh realities of gender-based violence and femicide.

The movie was shot in the heart of Venda by Tshwane University of Technology alumnus Murena Emmanuel Netshitangani.
