Volkswagen worries | Future of operations in SA in jeopardy

JOHANNESBURG - Volkswagen is concerned about rising manufacturing costs due to power cuts and infrastructure failures.

The Kariega plant in the Eastern Cape has been manufacturing cars for over seventy years.

Global passenger car CEO, Thomas Schafer, expressed the concern on a visit to the country recently.

He's quoted as saying the company can't build cars in a less competitive factory far from the market.
