JOHANNESBURG - It’s a remarkable conservation turnaround, not through fences or fines, but through trust, education, and community.
At Blouberg Nature Reserve in Limpopo, home to South Africa’s largest colony of Cape Vultures, the very communities once involved in poaching are now stepping up to stop it.
Instead of clashing with tradition, they’re working with it and the results are powerful. Students are becoming so-called "vulture protectors" with teachers reporting a sharp drop in vulture-related incidents, and local tip-offs now saving lives rather than ending them.
