WATCH | 'Constitutionally, now everyone knows where they stand' - ICA

JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Candidates Association (ICA) applied to the Constitutional Court in August.

This was to challenge the constitutionality of the independent candidates only allowed to contest for 200 of the 400 seats in the National Assembly.

The organisation wanted independent candidates be allowed to contest 350 seats. However, the Constitutional Court said that the ICA failed to prove its argument.

This then means that the Electoral Amendment Act is lawful
