WATCH | CT urged to tackle housing backlog

CAPE TOWN - Some community leaders in Gugulethu are appealing to the City of Cape Town to fast-track the housing waiting list backlog.

They say beneficiaries are dying before ever receiving keys to their homes.

The city’s housing department has over 340,000 applications on its housing needs register.

Something that the MMC for housing, Malusi Booi, previously blamed on budget cuts and illegal land invasions.
