WATCH | More metro police officers for South Africa

PRETORIA - Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga is working to get more boots on the country's roads. 

She's expected to announce the recruitment of additional metro police officers nationally this Wednesday morning. 

How many will be added and what their duties will entail are unclear at this stage.
