CAPE TOWN - South African municipalities and local governments are losing engineers.

This has significantly crippled the country's ability to maintain essential infrastructure.

Power utility Eskom, bulk supplier Rand Water and Joburg Water have been confronted with aging infrastructure, and years of neglect and lack enough skilled engineers to turn things around.
