WATCH | VIP protection officers taken off the streets

JOHANNESBURG - Off the streets and office-bound.

We're talking about members of a SAPS VIP Protection Unit caught on camera in Fourways, assaulting motorists.

Eight members have been served with suspension letters and temporarily removed from their posts, pending the outcome of an investigation.  

Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is promising to scrutinise the VIP Protection Unit.

Masemola says the conduct of the SAPS VIP Protection Unit needs a complete rethink.
