Crime affecting tourism negatively: iSimangaliso CEO

JOHANNESBURG - iSimangaliso Wetland Park CEO Sibusiso Bukhosisni says criminal activities in the area have had a negative impact on tourism and affect the livelihoods of the community.

He was responding to the killing of anti-crime activist Judah Mthethwa, who was gunned down on Thursday.

Mthethwa was known for calling out criminals smuggling stolen cars into Mozambique.

"This community Is very poor and relies mainly on visitors," says CEO Sibusiso Bukhosisni.

"If tourism is affected the community is affected."

Bukhosini says those who used to come will no longer come because of the crime that is rife in the area.
