Expert says committee into KZN political killings lacks transparency

JOHANNESBURG - Violence monitor Professor Mary de Haas says the Inter-Ministerial Committee into political killings in KwaZulu-Natal lacks transparency.

The wheels of justice seem to finally be turning, albeit slowly.

Out of 145 cases of political violence, 57 are in court, 31 are for decision dockets and 58 cases have been closed for various reasons.

This includes lack of evidence.

KwaZulu-Natal Director of Public Prosecutions, Elaine Zungu, confirmed this during a briefing on Friday.
