Hammanskraal cholera outbreak | Water problems have been an issue for decades: analyst

Water samples have been collected for further testing.

TSHWANE - At least 15 people have been confirmed dead after a cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal. More than 60 people have been admitted to hospital.

This has brought serious concerns about hygiene and sanitation in the area to the fore.

Water samples have been collected for further testing.

Professor Mike Muller says it's unacceptable that people still have to fight for service delivery.

He says there's a need for intervention in Hammanskraal.

Muller said, "this is a problem that has been going on for decades."

"The fact that in 2023 we still can't provide clean water to people of Tshwane it's absolutely shocking and it's not surprising there's an outbreak."

"I think Tshwane is in bad state."
