SONA 2023 | Civil society demands fundamental change

JOHANNESBURG - It’s been a tough year for most South Africans.

The cost of living is skyrocketing while unemployment remains at record levels.

One of the issues is that the basic income grant is increased from R350 to R1,500.

While many question the affordability of this, some feel they have the answer.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will have to navigate many pressing issues at the State of the Nation Address. 

But the message from unions and civil society alike is clear: Less rhetoric, more believable action.
