Ford recalls hundreds of Transit and tourneo vehicles

JOHANNESBURG - The National Consumer Commission has recalled certain Ford Transit and Tourneo Custom vehicles.

The recall applies to 582 vehicles from the 2022 to 2026 model years and sold nationwide between 2021 and 2025.

According to the manufacturer, the affected vehicles may have a battery fault which could produce an acidic smell hissing sound or gas inside the vehicle.

Ford said higher temperatures may trigger a chemical reaction in the battery and release hydrogen sulphide gas.
