JOHANNESBURG - The National Consumer Commission has issued a recall for certain Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX models vehicles due to a transmission solenoid fault.

The recall affects 1, 947 vehicles sold between 8 January 2025 and 16 January 2026.

The LC300 and Lexus LX models are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to control gear shifts.

“In rare instances, a transmission solenoid fault may not be properly communicated between control units, which could result in engine over‑revving, reduced power, or possible transmission damage," the supplier said.

"Affected customers have been proactively contacted and invited to bring their vehicles in for a precautionary software update."

The NCC further stated that consumers who own the affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to an authorised Toyota dealership for reprogramming of the Transmission ECU, which will be carried out at no cost to the consumer.
