Black Friday sales set to hit billions

JOHANNESBURG - In South Africa, the first Black Friday was held online in 2012 and since then, it's boomed into a month-long event.

FNB says it's expecting R3.3-billion in spending, while Absa is expecting R4.5-billion.

However, experts warn consumers not to get ahead of themselves.

A UK study shows that 58 percent of last year’s Black Friday shoppers would change how they spent their money if they had the chance.

Statistics South Africa has confirmed that November is fast becoming fierce competition for December sales.
