JOHANNESBURG - Don't run the tank too low; fuel prices could be heading higher next week.
Global fuel costs and ongoing geopolitical tensions continue to keep pressure on prices at the pumps.
The latest data points to fuel price increases of about R1 a litre for petrol and nearly R3 a litre for diesel.
These expected increases follow a sharp rise in global oil prices in August, which outweighed the benefits of a stronger rand.
While the local currency has helped soften the blow, fuel recoveries remain firmly in negative territory.
The expected fuel price hikes could still be adjusted by the slate levy.
Price adjustments will take effect on 2 September.
