Global oil prices rise | SA drivers could feel the pinch

JOHANNESBURG - Government has warned of higher fuel prices from April.

It comes as Brent Crude prices continue to rise due to the Middle East conflict.

But the Mineral Resources Department says supply remains stable for now.

South Africa has two operational refineries NatRef and Astron Energy.

They rely on imported oil, mainly from West Africa. But the Astron plant is closed for maintenance.

The Department says it's been assured that imports are sufficient to ensure adequate supply.

But rising international oil prices will affect prices at the pump.

The department says it's hopeful tensions will ease soon to stabilise markets and improve price conditions.
