They have filed an application with the Pretoria High Court to stop the sale.

Permits to export arms are issued by the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC).

The SALC said the NCACC is acting unlawfully by continuing to authorise arms exports in the face of overwhelming evidence of its aggression and international law violations.

Last year, South Africa exported arms valued at R279 million to the US.

The Centre said the NCACCA should have suspended or cancelled the permits for these sales.
