Africa must trade its way out of poverty: finance ministers

African leaders meeting in Addis Ababa believe intra-Africa trade is the answer to alleviating poverty.

ADDIS ABABA - Africa must industrialise and internally trade its way out of poverty.

That’s the word from African Finance Ministers at United Nations Economic Commission for Africa underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Africa accounts for 54 percent of the worlds poor people, overtaking Asia in recent years.

This week, countries told the United Nations gathering how poor infrastructure networks, unaffordable financing, increasing violence and terrorism are huge stumbling blocks.
