RUSTENBURG - South Africa’s struggling platinum sector continues to shed jobs.
Wesizwe Platinum says it's consulting to cut almost 500 jobs at its flagship Bakubung Platinum Mine in the North West.
The company says restructuring is needed to address operational challenges and improve the mine’s long-term sustainability.

The proposed cuts would affect around 70% of the mine’s workforce.
This is as management looks to streamline operations and reduce costs.
The move comes as platinum producers continue to battle weak metal prices, rising costs and tough trading conditions.
