Centre for Risk Analysis paints grim picture of diesel prices

JOHANNESBURG - The latest jump in oil prices does not bode well for consumers.

The Centre for Risk Analysis expects diesel prices to remain above R30 per litre for the rest of the year.

While all fuels have already hit record highs, Diesel is the one causing the most sleepless nights.

It has risen by 77 percent since January to reach R32.80 for low-sulphur diesel.

The Centre for Risk Analysis says it's most likely that the current standoff will continue.

But if there's an escalation then oil could jump to up to $130 per barrel and diesel prices could reach R36 or even higher.
