JOHANNESBURG - A ray of hope for consumers, as the Competition Commission embarks on an inquiry, into the fruit and vegetable market.

The probe will examine whether there are any factors in the fresh produce value chain that impede, restrict or distort competition in the market.

The African Council of Hawkers and Informal Businesses has welcomed the inquiry.

Its founding president Lawrence Mavundla, says small farmers are highly affected by this.
