The Western Cape is preparing for harvest and the local government is urging Eskom to review and adjust its load-shedding schedule.

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape is preparing for harvest and the local government is urging Eskom to review and adjust its loadshedding schedule.

Western Cape Agriculture MEC Ivan Meyer says farmers need a stable electricity supply.

He warns that billions could be lost if their harvesting is compromised.

Meyer says the current timetable will have a negative impact on farmers. 

"It’s important that we get a stable electricity supply during the harvesting season," Meyer said.

"March is the peak period for agricultural production."
