Transnet lauds arrest of fuel theft suspects
JOHANNESBURG - Transnet Pipelines is applauding the arrest of six suspects at the weekend following a tampering incident on its multi-product pipeline near Harrismith.
TPL's security service provider, Bidvest Protea Coin's tactical team, activated a joint operation with members of the Mpumalanga, Free State and Gauteng Provincial Operations Command Centre to capture the occupants of the fleeing vehicle.
The vehicle was spotted and stopped near Standerton and all four occupants were arrested.
Two tankers spotted near the crime scene attempted to flee the scene.
The brakes of one tanker failed during the pursuit and it caught alight.
