CAPE TOWN - A new study has revealed critical hurdles facing South Africa’s Special Investigating Unit (SIU).
Among the key challenges are the weak enforcement of its recommendations and serious concerns over the safety of SIU personnel and whistleblowers.

Titled “Securing the Future of SA’s Special Investigating Unit”, the report was compiled by the Institute for Security Studies in partnership with the SIU.
One of the authors, Colette Ashton, acknowledged the SIU’s strong organisational culture, describing it as an institution of excellence rooted in integrity.
